POSITION: Assistant Controller

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Daniel Bradley CPA CMA
 
   
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Exercise independent judgment and discretion when engaging and interacting with all project team members to meet the Customer's and Company's needs.    
Set goals, monitor results and evaluate results to meet business objectives
Manage internal and external relationships vital to meet goals
Proficient at strategy development and execution
Communicate effectively with internal and external team members
Ensure that the accounting department continuously promotes Keeley values and the mission
Maintain integrity, objectivity, professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with the AICPA's Code of Professional Conduct
Assist the Controller in creating a best-in-class Accounting Department
Assist in the preparation of month- and year-end financial statements
Compile information needed for third party to prepare sales and use tax returns for multiple states and jurisdictions
Payroll tax and Union filings
Budget-to-actual comparisons
Compliance with laws and regulations for all states in which L. Keeley does business
Maintain annual business licenses and documentation for all states
Coordinate the gathering of information requested for the annual financial statement audit, and audits from taxing authorities
Be the backup for the A/R, A/P and Payroll managers, and cross-train in various accounting functions
Research GAAP and conclude on proper recording of unusual and/or infrequent transactions
Establish, maintain, and monitor internal controls around accounting and financial reporting
Assist the Controller and CFO to drive financial discipline across all functions
Analyze contracts and leases
Various other duties as assigned
 

MONTHLY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare bank reconciliations.
Reconcile Accounts Payable subledger to the general ledger (GL)
Reconcile Accounts Receivable subledger to the GL
Reconcile all payroll liability accounts including union and withholding liabilities
Maintain the fixed asset register, and reconcile it to the GL
Prepare month-end journal entries
Maintain Notes Payable amortization schedules
Monitor aged accounts receivable, and resolve issues on aging balances
Maintain Dunn & Bradstreet Online Information
 

 

ASSIT IN RESEARCHING AND ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR COMPLIANCE WITH:

The new Revenue Recognition standard (ASC 606)
The new Lease standard (ASC 842)
Sales tax on vendor invoices
Sales tax on billings to our partners

 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Eligible to sit for the CPA and/or CMA exam

Certified Public Accountant and/or Certified Management Accountant.

Self-motivated

Eager to learn, and to teach

Public accounting firm and private industry

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills

Strong analytical skills

Excellent communication skills

Able to work independently and in a team environment

Experience at interfacing at all levels throughout an organization

Able to command credibility and able to influence
 

Location: Office is located at 500 South Ewing, Suite G, St. Louis, MO. 

This position does require periods of time sitting in front of a computer throughout the day.
