Position: Controller

Immediate Supervisor: David Fischer, CFO and Tom Birkemeier, President

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Exercise independent judgment and discretion when engaging and interacting with all team members to meet the Customer's and Company's needs
Set goals, monitor results and evaluate results to meet business objectives
Manage internal and external relationships vital to meet goals
Proficient at strategy development and execution
Communicate effectively with internal and external team members
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
Assign and audit the work of the accounting department.
Involved in the more critical and confidential aspects of accounting
Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues
Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
Oversee accounting software program

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee assigned projects and ensure they are executed and completed in accordance with goals
Lead project team consisting of administrative staff
Issue timely and complete financial statements
Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
Provide for a system of management cost reports
Provide financial analyses as needed, for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Taxes & Union Benefits: review reports and amounts for payment
Month & Year-­end preparation: Responsible and accountable for the accuracy of the income statement and balance sheet
Work closely with CFO of Sister Company
Provide advice, guidance and direction to subordinate managers and administrative staff toward their professional development
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Participate in Strategic Planning (STP) through research and development, action planning and execution

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred, Master's degree in Accounting or related field considered a plus
Minimum 10 years' experience in accounting preferred
Advanced knowledge of the construction industry
Timberline experience a plus

Location: Office is located at 500 South Ewing, Suite G, St. Louis, MO.
